LOUIS P. BONOMINI, P.E. CONSULTING ENGINEER SAW MILL ROAD KATONAH, NEW YORK 10536 (914) 245-6141 May 17, 1997 Dear Don and Jody, Enclosed is a copy of a letter that I sent to the George Rowe Museum in 1991 before making my first trip to Colorado. I did leave copies of a number of documents at the museum on my visit. I was also able to find our family cemetery plot on a hill overlooking the town. Strangely, there were some flowers on the grave and I have no idea who placed them. Also enclosed is a translation of an hand written family record kept by my grandfather. There are many names of friends who acted as godparents when the children were born. Feel free to post the names as you see fit. It would be interesting to hear from their families. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me at the above address. Sincerely, Louis Bonomini
April 7, 1991 George Rowe Museum 905 Main Street Silver Plume, CO 80476 Gentlemen: My father, Charles Bonomini, was born in Silver Plume in the year 1895. He was one of six children born to Antonio Bonomini, a miner and Trustee of the town. I have a brief family record, hand written by my grandfather, which describes his marriage to Silvia Franconi in Fontana Fredda, Italy and their trip to Denver where they were remarried in 1889. It names the children and their godparents, all apparent residents of Silver Plume. Two of the children died as infants and were buried in the local cemetery. My grandfather arrived in Colorado in 1882 and established a mining partnership with Achille Ricci. I have a certificate of election indicating that he was elected Town Trustee in Silver Plume on the fifth day of April 1898. Having recently retired, I am planning a long overdue trip to Silver Plume in September of this year. I would like to find out as much as I possibly can about my family and their life in Silver Plume. I would appreciate any help you might offer towards this goal. I will certainly look forward to visiting the Museum. There are several original papers which papers which you might be interested in copying. These include my grandfathers marriage certificate in Denver, his certificate of naturalization in Central City, and his certificate of election in Silver Plume. I also have my father’s birth certificate and baptism certificate from Silver Plume. If you have any interest in these documents please let me know and I will bring them with me on my visit. I would like to get as much information as possible before my trip so that I can allocate my time for additional travel through Colorado. I will anxiously await your reply. Very truly yours Louis Bonomini
