Teaching Experience:

Substitute Teacher, Sep 2004 –Present.  Working in grades K-6 in Monroe, Riverview, and Snoqualmie school districts. Taught single-grade, ESL, and Literacy classes. Followed teachers’ lesson plans when available and improvised as necessary to engage students in learning.

Little Village Children’s  Daycare Center, Aug 2003 – June 2004.  Taught pre-kindergarten. Class size total of 26 students with varying schedules.  Worked with other teachers to develop lessons and school wide projects. Participated with students in Christmas and Spring programs.

Northstar Elementary School, Aug 2002 – Aug 2003.  Taught Kindergarten from August 2002 until October 2002. Responsible for presenting all lessons in Spanish to the Spanish side of the dual language program. Moved to 4th grade classroom in November due to staff reorganization due to student count. Responsible for teaching a new math program to 4th graders, reading classes that were combined from all 4th grade classrooms. Participated in setting up a new school wide discipline program. Sponsored and taught in an after school math club for students who wanted extra help.

Stargate Middle School (GT School), Aug 2000 – Aug 2001.  Designed and taught courses in Journalism, Countries and Cultures, and Character building (Philosophy) for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students at Stargate and Thornton  (combined) Middle Schools.  Produced yearbook, co-sponsored NJHS.  Taught gifted/talented program students, general student body students, and mono-lingual Spanish students.

Thornton Middle School (Adams 12), Mar – Jun 2000.  Long term substitute, Home Economics/Consumer Family Studies.  Received recognition for taking students with reputations as difficult students and assisting them to transition to attentive, appropriate behaviors.  Taught monolingual Spanish-speaking students inclusively.

Tollgate Elementary School (Aurora), Aug 1999 – Jan 2000.  Long term substitute teacher, Kindergarten, from first day of school to mid-year.  Multi-lingual classroom.  Prepared lesson materials in Urdu, Spanish, Hmong, and English.  Smoothly transitioned students to regular teacher at mid-year. 

Substitute teacher, Oct 1994 – June 2002 . Worked over 200 days in grades K-8 in Denver, Adams 12, and St. Vrain school districts. Taught single-grade, multi-age, special education, bilingual, and gifted classes.

Member 1995-2000 Adams County Association of Gifted and Talented (AdCAG/T), Colorado Association of Gifted and Talented (CAG/T).

Spanish Club Teacher, Hunters Glen Elementary School, Oct. 1993 – May 1994.  Prepared curriculum for and taught a before-school course for 1st - 2nd grade students.
